President's Message

Welcome members and guests to the VDHA website. This website serves as a resource for
you with regard to your professional association and the practice of dental
hygiene in Vermont.
New links to the site have recently been added that give information
about SADHA, the Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association in Vermont, and a Hardship
Program that was established to request donations for hygienists with serious
illness in need of financial support.
It is a privilege to serve as President of the VDHA
during 2007-2008. My theme for the
Association and the practice of dental hygiene in Vermont this year is
“outreach.” I envision dental hygiene professionals
providing oral health care to more Vermonters throughout the state outside of
the traditional dental office setting with the implementation of public health
supervision. Whether dental hygiene
care is provided in nursing homes, schools, clinics or in collaboration with
other health professionals, the oral health care needs of more Vermonters will
be addressed.
The theme of outreach also applies to you, as a member
of your professional association, and to those who are considering membership.
The VDHA represents the professional interests of all dental hygienists in
Vermont. As a VDHA/ADHA member, you have a voice
in the future of dental hygiene practice in the state of Vermont and at the
national level. How can the VDHA
better serve you to advance your interests and satisfaction as dental hygiene
professionals?
As President I welcome your thoughts, concerns,
interests and ideas. Please feel
free to contact me at any time.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at upcoming
continuing education courses and the Vermont Oral Health Conference in
September.
Tina M. Marshall, RDH, M.Ed.
