Mary Lew, RDH BS


Mary Lew graduated cum laude from the University of Vermont, School of Dental Hygiene in 1976, with an Associate in Science degree and in 1978 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development.  Mary has been working full-time in clinical practice for the past 30 years in local general practice offices.  Since 2005, she has been employed as a Clinical Associate as well as a Radiography and Dental Materials laboratory instructor at Vermont Technical College dental hygiene program.  In addition, she works part-time in 2 private practices. 

Ms. Lew served a term with the VT Board of Dental Examiners from 1988-1991 and has been an examiner with the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (NERB) for the past 20 years.  She served on their Steering Committee from 1993-1994.   

An active member of VDHA for the past 25 years, Mary has served as the VDHA / VSDS Liaison Committee moderator from 1991-1996, has been a member of the Annual Meeting Planning Committee, and is currently Chair of the VDHA Continuing Education Committee.   

Mary is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society and has served in the capacity of President as well as Secretary / Treasurer for Phi Chapter.  In 2003, she became certified as a BLS / CPR instructor, and has since raised monies toward this organizations scholarship fund. 

In her community, Mary has enjoyed volunteering since 2001 with the Ronald McDonald House Charities for The Children’s Hospital at FAHC’s Baird 5 Family Room.  A member of St. John Vianney Church, Mary serves as a Eucharistic Minister and is an active volunteer with the educational program for the youth of her parish.  

Mary lives in South Burlington with her husband Dick, and enjoys traveling as well as many outdoor activities.
